An Update on Fundraising

Friends of Vale School are saddened to announce that we are unable to operate our usual festive events for 2020.

The Trustees are conscious that Christmas is one of the major highlights of our fundraising calendar, and we know that this news, whilst perhaps not a surprise, will be a huge disappointment, not just for us, but more importantly to the pupils of Vale School, their families and the wider Vale community.

We have considered many options to try and operate in a safe way, but sadly at this time, and with ever-changing Government guidance, there simply is not a safe option and we do not wish to place any additional pressures on the teachers, staff, volunteers and the school itself.
That said, we are still seeking to find alternative ways to mark the festive period, and will update parents and carers if suitable safe plans can be put in place.

Unfortunately, this lack of events brings with it extremely limited opportunities for us to raise funds for the school. You may already be aware that Friends of Vale School successfully funded the retractable seating system in the school hall. Our current fundraising aim is to raise money to purchase a sound and light system which will further enhance school performances, although without our major events the opportunities to raise the money required is going to prove challenging.

However, there are ways that you can help even while restrictions are in place, and these are set out here on our website.

For example, please consider signing up to The Giving Machine, which will donate money to the Friends of Vale School when you shop online at over 2,000 websites.

If you shop at Amazon, please click through from our website. Every time you do this, Amazon will automatically track your purchase – you do not need to enter any special codes – and pay us a small referral commission. You pay the same price you always do, and you can still use Prime for delivery if you are a member.

We are also working on new, safe ways to collect and sell items of preloved uniform, as well as collecting other items for recycling such as DVDs & CDs and our textile recycling bin (located by the school gate) remains open for donations.

We will continue to update you as plans take shape. In the meantime, if you have any queries, comments or suggestions, please contact us at friendsofvale@gmail.com.

Thank you for your patience and ongoing support,

The FoV Team
